KIDS MAKE
COMICS TOO!
UT 62 Learning Journey
THE MISSION 🚀
Welcome, future comic artists! In this unit, we aren't just reading stories—we are creating them. Your goal is to write, illustrate, and present a complete comic strip for your Year 5 schoolmates. You will master character descriptions, action verbs, and the art of storytelling!
YOUR ROADMAP TO SUCCESS
Follow these 5 phases to go from a blank page to a masterpiece.
PHASE 1: DISCOVERY 🕵️♂️
Understanding the Genre
We analyze real comics. What makes them special? We spot the difference between thinking bubbles 💭 and shouting bubbles 💥.
PHASE 2: HERO BUILDER 🦸♀️
Character Descriptions
Who is your hero? We use adjectives to describe hair, face, clothes, and body. Is your villain tall or short? Scary or funny?
PHASE 3: GRAMMAR POWER ⚡
Action & Time
Comics need action! We learn the Present Continuous (I am flying!) and Prepositions of Time (IN, ON, AT) to say when things happen.
PHASE 4: THE MASTER PLAN 📝
Storyboarding
Every good story needs a plan. We define the Setting (Where?), the Problem (Oh no!), and the Resolution (Phew!).
PHASE 5: SHOWTIME 🎬
Production & Presentation
Draw, colour, write, and present! You will read your comic aloud to Year 5 students with perfect intonation.
